Fun for all
Our events
We have some excellent events for you to participate in. Each year we proudly run our flagship event, the Linlithgow 10K and Junior Fun Run in September. Our Santa Dash at the start of winter brings some festive cheers to the town — two much-loved highlights of the local calendar that reflect the inclusive spirit of Linlithgow Athletic Club.
Linlithgow 10k and Junior Fun Run
The Talk to Thompson’s Linlithgow 10K is a prestigious, long-running community road race set around the picturesque and historic town of Linlithgow.
Established in 1992 and organised entirely by volunteers from Linlithgow Athletic Club, this much-loved event has become a highlight of the local running calendar. Held under licence from Scottish Athletics, the race welcomes runners of all abilities — from first-time 10K participants to experienced athletes chasing fast times.
The event also includes a popular junior fun run, helping inspire the next generation of runners and reflecting our club ethos of wellbeing through athletics for everyone. With superb local support and a friendly, inclusive atmosphere, it’s a race that keeps runners coming back year after year.

Routes
The 10k route
The section behind the loch is narrow and over taking is difficult for this section. Please obey the signals and directions given by route stewards – for safety reasons please do not wear headphones.
While some roads are closed for us, others are not. Please take care and listen to any instructions from our marshals. You may be requested to stop due to traffic priority (e.g., at the entrance road to Sainsbury’s). Please respect the marshals’ instructions.

The fun run route
The 1.9k route follows the High Street towards the West Port before heading loch-side towards the Palace, finishing with a lap of the Peel.
Important race information
The event raises a modest amount of money that is used to help fund the work the club does in promoting and providing opportunities for athletics in our community. No individuals within our organisation gain financially from the event in any way.
In the unlikely event that we have to cancel the event, all runners will receive a refund minus an administration fee or have the option of rolling the entry fee onto the next scheduled Linlithgow 10k race. Entrants are not entitled to a refund if they choose to withdraw and may not defer their place to a subsequent event.
The event offers pacers ranging from 40 minutes to 65 minutes.
Runners who anticipate finishing after 1 hour and 15 minutes should be aware that there will be a 'sweeper' cyclist travelling at around this pace to indicate the opening of the road to traffic. After the cyclist passes, runners can of course continue to complete the course exercising caution and proceeding as a prudent and careful pedestrian. For logistical reasons, there will be a strict time limit for the 10k of 1 hour and 40 minutes. The course and finish area will be dismantled in accordance with this so please do not enter if you cannot achieve this finish time.
Training plans
Club member and endurance coach John Redding has created three 10 week 10k training plans.

Santa Dash
Another well known and popular staple of the club calendar is the Charity Santa Dash. This event, open to all, is held on the last Saturday of November and coincides with the town's Advent Fair and torchlight procession, leading to the switching on of the Christmas lights. With entrants encouraged to dress as Santa, the run involves two loops along the High Street, which is closed to traffic, starting and finishing at the Cross.
It's an amazing spectacle, and the fastest runners win prizes to be donated to charity, along with all proceeds from the event. Entrey is via Entry Central in the weeks leading up to the event.
